A picturesque middle-class home, nestled under a blue sky, surrounded by lush green trees, a perfectly manicured lawn, and a pool glistening under the sun. Harnessing the sun’s energy for peace of mind to truly relax and enjoy the nature around.
I had the pleasure of collaborating with Lindhaus to visualize one of their wood-structured buildings featuring a clinker facade. Every project demands a unique approach to deliver a rendering that aligns with the client’s brief, and here, I’ll walk you through mine.
Working with 3D models from CAD programs, such as ArchiCAD, often requires careful adjustment. These models typically contain excess elements that remain unseen but can clutter the scene, potentially causing performance and mapping issues. In this instance, I needed to remove the ground model and some furniture pieces to streamline the scene.
The process further included integrating lighting and textures into the composition. I also introduced imperfections to the scene, a subtle yet impactful step towards achieving greater realism and depth in the final render.
The next phase involved modeling the ground to add depth, prepping it for the inclusion of trees and grass. Keeping performance in mind, I strategically opted for only two different types of trees despite the large number I planned to scatter across the scene. This selection, coupled with the use of effectors, allowed for considerable variation and a convincing natural feel, all while maintaining good performance. By modifying the scale and rotation, each tree maintains its individuality, contributing to a diverse, lifelike environment.
The final touch to the composition involved introducing assets such as lamps, furniture, and plants. With these elements in place, the scene was fully prepared to transition to the next phase of the process.
The concluding stage of the process took place in Photoshop, where post-processing brought a polished finish to the composition. This involved layering different passes, making adjustments, and adding overlays, assets, and effects. The careful blend of these elements ultimately resulted in the final, visually compelling image.
